QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.
QPR can be learned in our Gatekeeper course in as little as one hour.
We offer this training frequently and are always looking for those interested in training others.
Starting in 3rd grade we have age appropriate and resource packed presentations to help students identify the warning sign, risk factors, and what to do if someone they know is struggling. Talking to well over 17,000 students in the last 3 school years, we use language to bust the stigma around mental illness, share in a peer to peer support way, and leave them with practical tips and resources. This information is so important to get out to students and their families. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death ages 10-34, second to accidents. (ASPF, 2020.)
